Position Vacant – Heritage Consultant
Context is excited to offer a dynamic and experienced cultural heritage specialist an opportunity to contribute to our growing business. This is a full-time position, based in our Melbourne office.
Context is part of the vibrant and progressive GML Heritage consultancy group that wants to make a difference. Our motivated multidisciplinary team has expertise in all heritage disciplines, including urban planning, architecture, archaeology, Aboriginal cultural heritage, landscapes, community values, and interpretation. Context focuses on collaboration and delivery of influential heritage advice to private and public sector clients throughout Australia and internationally. We take pride in our work and think that heritage contributes to our sense of place and a sustainable environment.
We are looking for applicants with heritage planning experience who want to play a key role in shaping our consultancy into the future. In this position you will provide specialist heritage advice across a range of heritage services, including heritage values assessment. You will support senior consultants, manage projects, provide specialist advice to clients, and support emerging consultants in the firm.
The successful applicant will hold a degree (ideally with Honours or Masters) in a cultural heritage discipline and have expertise and experience in architectural conservation and heritage planning. You will have at least five (5) years’ experience in a consulting environment, or commensurate experience in another heritage role.
You will have excellent writing skills, with demonstrated experience in research and analysis, heritage assessment, providing heritage advice, report writing and preparation, and project management and support. Importantly, you will be a team player who is able to undertake large projects in multidisciplinary teams, and work within time and budget constraints. A working knowledge of Victorian and local government heritage legislation, and industry guidelines such as the Burra Charter, is essential. Experience in GIS, Adobe Suite, photographic documentation, database systems, and community engagement would be an advantage.
